Allergen Blot Strips

Allergen Blot Strips

ASTRA allergy blots provide a flexible line-immunoblot platform for detecting specific IgE antibodies using 20-allergen panels tailored to inhalant, food, pediatric, atopic, and mixed-allergen profiling. Built on enzyme immunoassay principles with TMB chromogenic detection, the blots allow both visual qualitative reading and semi-quantitative evaluation using the BLOtrix scanner (RAST-class output). The panels combine common and less frequent allergen extracts, enabling customized diagnostics for a wide range of patient types. With very low serum consumption, integrated positive controls, and strong comparability to PROTIA Allergy Q panels, ASTRA blots offer a practical, cost-effective, and versatile solution for routine and specialized allergy testing.

Core Technical Features

  • Line-immunoblot assay using enzymatic IgE detection with HRP-labeled anti-IgE and TMB substrate.

  • Visual reading or semi-quantitative RAST-class evaluation with the BLOtrix scanner.

  • Very low sample consumption: only 100 µL of 5× diluted serum.

  • Built-in positive control on each strip.

  • Validated agreement with PROTIA Allergy Q panels across food, inhalant, and atopic categories.

Panel Portfolio

  • 7 total 20-allergen panels:

    • Inhalation panels (core and extended allergens)

    • Food panels (basic and less common foods)

    • Atopic panel (15 extracts + 3 milk components + 2 mixes)

    • Pediatric panel (balanced selection for children)

    • Allergen Mixes Panel (20 mixtures covering 78 allergen sources)

Diagnostic Strengths

  • Coverage of both standard and less frequent allergenic sources.

  • Pediatric and atopic panels tailored to age-specific and high-risk profiles.

  • Food panels designed for broad screening and extended dietary allergens.

  • Inhalation panels match common regional aeroallergens, comparable to PROTIA 64-allergen sets.

  • Mix panel enables screening-first strategies by identifying likely allergen groups via mixture pattern interpretation.

Operational Advantages

  • Flexible reading options: visual for rapid qualitative evaluation; scanner for standardized RAST-class reporting.

  • High comparability with PROTIA ensures consistency in mixed-system environments.

  • Variability between panels allows customized diagnostics based on patient history and region.

  • Cost-effective solution with simple laboratory workflow.
